The work continues!
Less than 2 months and counting
I’ve been so busy. I think it’s safe to say that I’ve underestimated just how much time things take to make.

I’m really fortunate that I have a whole collective behind me that wants to see me succeed though - can’t state that enough.
That said, I’m going to have to keep this note relatively short because I have to go get some things printed, pick up some supplies, retrieve my art from my last show, and do some painting before I hit the evening - which I’ve designated my “crochet time”.
My display at Crooked Tooth went over really well this month! I managed to sell a couple pieces, and got to visit with a bunch of my friends and family for the opening which was a lot of fun.
Crooked Tooth is easily my favorite brewery in Tucson, so it was really cool to be able to take up wall space there. :D
I’ve also done some work framing things - which is my least favorite part of making art, because it’s either expensive - or nervewrackingly destructive (putting holes in things, gluing stuff down, etc), or a combination of both. Really happy with how this piece turned out though! The gold frame is PERF and it was pre-made so a little less expensive than something custom.
Right now I have the files for this at the printer - so 8x10s will be available during the show.
I also got my risograph prints back!
I’ve never made risograph prints before - so this was definitely a learning experience. Mostly in how the print files are set up.
Riso is a lot like screen printing, just on a big printer instead of by hand using screens. Each color has to be sent as a separate file in greyscale instead of a single color print file.
I’ll probably make more in the future but less meticulously than I approached this design. I thought everything had to be separated in hard lines - but nah gradients and fuzzy edges are apparently fair game.
Next time gadget.
Up and Coming ~
On the horizon, I have two paintings that I’m currently working on!
This guy is very nearly done. Right now I’m waiting for the background to dry so I can lay in another layer of paint, and then add in black lines between all of the cells. After that, I have a smaller board (a narrow notecard-ish size) that I’ll be mounting to the center of the blank paint “canvas”. I’ll be painting it to look like an error message that will read":
“Paint cannot save You
You have been corrupted. You cannot be saved.”

— which admittedly doesn’t look like much right now, but will ultimately be a surreal piece inspired by Utopian Scholastic design, Robert Tinney, and the art protection script known as Nightshade (more info on that here: https://nightshade.cs.uchicago.edu/whatis.html)
She’s got a lot of work left to go - so wish me luck!
Anyway - this is getting longer than I expected. Thanks for sticking around, I’ve gotta go run all of my errands and get back to work!
